The Lichfield Islamic Cultural Society, like similar organisations in other parts of the world, play a crucial role in fostering a sense of community among Muslims and promoting cultural exchange and understanding with the broader Lichfield society.

The LICS shares all of the goals and activities listed below in order to contribute positively to the local Lichfield community and promote cultural understanding:

1. Cultural Exchange

Cultural exchange services are initiatives aimed at promoting intercultural and interfaith understanding, as well as fostering a sense of community and inclusivity. We often organise events and programs to showcase the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Muslim world. This can include Interfaith dialogue, cultural exhibitions, lecture series, language classes, cultural workshops, festivals, community outreach and youth education programs.

2. Interfaith Dialogue

The LICS actively engage in interfaith dialogue, fostering conversations between members of the Muslim community and people of other faiths in the Lichfield area. These dialogues can help dispel misconceptions, build bridges of understanding, and promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

3. Educational Initiatives

The LICS frequently offers educational programs and workshops, both for Muslims seeking to deepen their knowledge of their faith and for non-Muslims interested in learning about Islam. These can include Quranic studies, language courses (e.g. Arabic), and lectures on Islamic history and theology.

4. Community Support

The LICS often serves as a support network for the Muslim community. They provide a space for social gatherings, religious services, and community events. This sense of belonging is especially important for Muslims living in areas where they may be a minority.

5. Promotion of Diversity

The LICS typically celebrate the diversity within the Muslim community itself, recognising that Muslims come from various cultural backgrounds and traditions. They often promote inclusivity and respect for different Islamic practices and traditions.

6. Civic Engagement

The LICS encourage their members to be actively involved in civic and social issues. This can include voter registration drives, participation in local government, and advocacy for social justice causes.
